I'm still swamped with work trying to prep the online store but I thought I would take a quick photo of some quality thrift finds from the morning. I was at the printer reviewing the greeting card proofs (yes, I am that last minute) and on my way back to the studio I stopped in the one thrift store in town I always seem to find something at. I was especially excited about the vintage Coach bag ($19) because I'd been looking on Ebay to find one in this exact style. Isn't it the best when you find something good? Thrift stores are life's little treasure hunts.
I also plan on reading that book, "First on the Moon," when I get a chance. Sounds interesting and I love the cover with it's subtle reference to the moon's surface.

As those of you who have read this blog since I started it know, I have been working toward opening my online store for some time now. Over the past year it's been pushed to the side and delayed due to the amount of custom work that I've been doing but I'm finally opening it! Next week! The store will feature greeting cards, personalized stationery, art prints, invitation templates, and other paper goods.
I'm still planning on sending out a special offer to everyone on my email list so sign up (on the sidebar to the right) in the next day or two in order to receive that.
Also, stay tuned for a special giveaway that I'm doing over on Once Wed next week to promote the release of the wedding invitation templates that will be available to order in the store.
I'm so excited to share the things I've been working on and I apologize for the lack of posts here this week.. It's madness in this office until we launch (I just counted 11 empty coffee cups surrounding me.. geesh).

Many thanks to New York Mag for including a Rifle save the date (the one with the tandem bike) in their Winter 2010 Weddings issue. I just saw the image for the first time on the Bird and Banner site today (and I feel quite honored to be on the same page next to those incredibly talented ladies).

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11:23AM Adam & Lhasa's Invitation Set:
I have to admit, this is one of my favorite sets and I have been holding out on posting it for a while. It's simple, delicate, and the lovely couple gave me such wonderful direction & inspiration to work with.

Bre & Eric's Wedding Certificate:
This certificate poster was created for my best friend's wedding and I am happy to announce that it will soon be available to order in my online store as a template! The poster was designed to match her save the dates and then we had Mama's Sauce (of course) screen print it with 3 ink colors on black colored French Paper.

I've long been a fan of Peter Buchanan-Smith's simple yet sophisticated & nostalgic designs. I even subscribed to Paper Mag while he was creative director because I loved what he was doing with the magazine (that Kelly Osborne cover is my favorite). So lovely and always a reminder that less is more...

Last year I went all out and hosted a Halloween party but this year I'm not sure that I'll be doing anything besides working. Anyone have any big plans or awesome costume ideas?
These images are from one of my favorite Martha Stewart Living spreads (in the Oct. 09 issue). So adorable and fun.. Owl mask "how-to" here. Cat mask here.

my iphone photos from the eventLast night we had our second It's Better Together meetup in Orlando and it was so much fun! There was a great turnout at Seven Sisters Coffee of wedding pros in all different fields such as invitation design, photography, hair styling, event planning, etc. This meeting was focused on accounting for a small business (something that it seems everyone could use a little help with) and we brought in a CPA to speak and answer lots of questions. It was so lovely to mingle, meet new people, and get a reminder about how intimidating the IRS is :).
Many thanks to Trisha and Becka for getting the event together and to the Orange Blossom Ink ladies for making the awesome fabric business card holders (at the end of the event everyone got a pouch with each person's business card inside).
We plan on meeting every quarter so if you're in the area & part of the wedding industry feel free to get in touch about getting on our mailing list.

I'm glad some of you share my forbidden puppy love! (mine is forbidden at the moment by my husband, the fact that we live in a small apartment with tricky stairs leading to it, and my workaholic schedule).
I couldn't resist sharing this lovely vintage print (and then I'll stop with the dog kick).. Someday when we live in a bigger place I'd love to fill a wall with all sorts of prints and paintings just like this. I'll be going for the "the old British man's study look."

I thought I would start compiling some inspiration palettes/collages of some things I've been interested in lately.. some of which have inspired pieces in my new stationery collection.
First up: a hodgepodge of vintage apothecary, pharmacy and specimen items (for the love of elegant type meets creepy taxidermy).
left to right, top to bottom: Deyrolle, Paris , Botanical Poster , scripted 'E' , vintage pharmacy label , pharmacy show globes , vintage print illustrations , Archive Tilt Font , inspired color palette (cream, slate, gold, vintage green) , Silius Engraved font

I had so much fun working with Joanna (from Cup of Jo) and Alex on their wedding programs for their British nautical themed wedding!
Check out their beautiful wedding photos that Joanna is posting on her blog this week, if you haven't already. (shot by the talented Max Wanger).

I love the artwork Carson Ellis creates. Her watercolor work is amazing but I also adore these pencil illustrations. She's the 'artist in residence' for The Decemberists (and wife of the lead singer).. something I thought I would end up being for my husband's former band.
Also.. have a great weekend! I'm jealous of all of you who are experiencing the cool Fall weather. Orlando set a record high yesterday.
