inspiration palette no. 1 - vintage apothecary
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 11:09AM
I thought I would start compiling some inspiration palettes/collages of some things I've been interested in lately.. some of which have inspired pieces in my new stationery collection.
First up: a hodgepodge of vintage apothecary, pharmacy and specimen items (for the love of elegant type meets creepy taxidermy).
left to right, top to bottom: Deyrolle, Paris , Botanical Poster , scripted 'E' , vintage pharmacy label , pharmacy show globes , vintage print illustrations , Archive Tilt Font , inspired color palette (cream, slate, gold, vintage green) , Silius Engraved font

A friend said that my bedroom was a bit apothecary-ey (it's a word!). I now want to fill it with loads of taxidermy. The taxidermists near my house has a hippo's head with it's mouth open. I want to buy it, lay it face up, cover it with glass and have it as a coffee table. Apparently that's a bit mean, so I might get the bear and put it in a cage instead.
I like the bear in your banner. He looks like how I feel. I wouldn't put him in a cage. He looks like he needs a hug and a sandwich. I would give him a sandwich. And a hug.
that scripted E is amazing.
Love the typefaces! MyFonts is a great site--I never realized that had an archive collection. Thanks for the tip, Anna!
This is an amazing inspiration palette! Loving very part of this...
Absolutely adore this! The soft mossy greens contrasted with the sharp black feels so fresh. Gorgeous board!
hey anna!! congrats on the store opening...
if you're ever in san francisco you MUST check out the store Paxton's Gate. it's 100% vintage apothecary/taxedermy style. it's by far the most interesting and fantastical store. anddd it's across the street from the curiosity shoppe! you'd love it...
