BUDGET: crate & barrel box
Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 12:47PM
I went to a friend's wedding a few weeks ago and purchased a gift off their registry from Crate & Barrel. I love those boxes that they package your gift in but they're just not that festive and the handle makes it a little awkward to wrap. So, I decided to save on paper and get out my sharpie in an attempt to decorate the box itself. I love how it turned out! It was so easy and quick (even if you can't draw you could trace simple flowers and color them in.. the sharpie is good for bold, simple designs). I took this picture as I was running out the door so it doesn't show all of the sides but I just started at some of the letters and drew the flowers coming out from them and wrapping around the sides of the box.
I'm working on so many wedding projects right now that I thought I'd post once in a while on some budget wedding tips (from my own wedding and those I've come across). You know, for the tough times and all. I know that might seem boring for those of you who are not getting married but most things can be applied to any event or different craft projects. Maybe it'll end up being more general. who knows..

Wow ! Your blog is amazing !!! I need to come back and start at the beginning.
Found you through oatmeal and cinnamon ... through ??? Wow !!!
At first I was thinking "what do you mean, not festive? it's darling!" Then I realized the flowers were not part of the original :)
Your gift looks great — I had to do a doubletake because it looked like your design was printed on at first. Nice work with a sharpee — and you saved a tree.
I've only seen someone else do this once, and I was looking for an inspiration for decorating the C&B bridal shower gift I just purchased. Love your black and white florals! My friend did hearts and swirls... thanks for sharing your design! Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
Just came and read, this is wow! I was seek from many blogs, but here is the best, I love it.
I was just searching the web for some budget wedding ideas when I came upon this post. Until I read your article I had no idea that you had decorated the box yourself. I just thought that it was one of those specialty boxes that they give out around the holidays. What a great job and what a great budget wedding tip. Keep up the good work. I'll be back to check out some more of your tips.
