vintage wizard of oz illustrations

I love these vintage Wizard of Oz chapter heading illustrations from a book published in 1958. Oz would make such a great theme for a kid's party.. and you could approach it so many different ways. When I usually think of the story I tend to think of the film and its bright, technicolor colors but I like these for their more subdued, storybook quality.

Oh how wonderful these are! They would series would make a fantastic as a collection of prints, all grouped together - up a stairway, perhaps, or a family room, or of course for children ... so many possibilities.
Oo.. the idea of a kid's Oz party has me thinking of the amazing postage collages you could put together for the invites. I'm thinking a combination of Judy Garland, Kansas and Poppies, just to get started! Thanks for the inspiration : )
I have always been obsessed with this movie and had a themed-birthday party like you mentioned when I was in 5th grade! We went all-out and made yard signs like in the movie's haunted forest, made a yellow brick road out of butcher paper and decorated our own ruby slippers. So fun. Have you ever seen the vintage Wizard of Oz valentines like this one? (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3466/3232266953_5b63924955.jpg?v=0). So cute!!
