is it really march 9th already?

Over the weekend I didn't do anything exciting except work, work, work and organize the bookshelves. Those shelves are my favorite thing in this apartment (they hold oodles of stuff) but they were looking a little spastic so on Saturday night I took everything out and put it all back in as pretty and organized as I could. I also managed to squeeze in a little table under the window to be my mailing station for the shop. I'm running out of room in my office and the light is much better in the dining room so it works for now.

    jacob magraw

I love his colors and detail.. and the fact that his paintings are a little crazy. The bottom one looks like Disneyland on acid.

    see more work here.

    miniature rhino ...and Etsy

these are so cute! they'd make a perfect gift for a loved one and a lovely wedding gift. Check out the other items in Jessica's Miniature Rhino Etsy shop..

speaking of Etsy... I'm trying to decide where I'm going to host my shop and I'm considering Etsy but am leaning toward another company. Does anyone have any advice or experiences to share (good or bad) about working with Etsy? I really like what they're all about but I'm not sure if they're the best fit for me.

    hollow earth

I love this book cover designed by Alex Camlin, especially the map and the way "map of the interior world" is written on the bottom right. It also looks like it could be an interesting book to read and it would be awesome if there were illustrations throughout depicting the "strange lands, fantastical creatures, advanced civilizations, and marvelous machines below the earth's surface" but the "Look Inside!" on Amazon didn't show any signs of such things.. only words.

    frasier fir

this is my favorite soap. the scent is perfect and it reminds me of being at my family's cabin in the adirondack mountains with fresh pines all around.. and Christmas. I love all of the packaging from Thymes but I think this one is my favorite as well. I'm not sure if this picture does them justice but the illustrations are really beautiful and they look a little retro.

the image is from Duffy & Partners, the Minneapolis firm who designed all of the packaging for Thymes.

    happy weekend

happy weekend! nathan and the band left this afternoon to play a show in Gainesville, Fl while I stayed behind to catch up on some work. I have a lot to get done over the weekend but I'm hoping to squeeze in a trip to the farmer's market, peruse a few garage sales, and maybe even visit the history museum to see the Jim Henson exhibit..

    diana sudyka

i've always loved artist/illustrator Diana Sudyka's screen printed posters. she creates such beautiful illustrations and i love all of her hand drawn type.. she's also the wife of poster artist Jay Ryan and i'm curious what kind of dynamic that creates and if they influence each other or work together..
