happy cocktail weekend

have a wonderful weekend! I've been working hard trying to spruce up our place and my deadline is my Saturday night cocktail party for a few close girlfriends (it's still to be determined if I will actually succeed).

in honor of cocktail parties everywhere here's a little roundup of favorite party goods..

1. Rachel Menken from Mad Men (one of my favorite scenes.. I love that zebra wallpaper) + Mai Tai recipe  2. pink cocktail napkins  3.  metal cocktail stirrers  4. Vintage Cocktails book (I have this and love it)  5. the quick little invite I threw together for my party  6. starburst coasters  7. gold polka dot glasses  8. cocktail shaker

p.s. what's your favorite cocktail? I'm trying to put together a little menu of classic drinks.

...of visiting exotic far off locals like Cappadocia, Turkey. so amazing! I'd love to stay in one of the cave hotels like this one.

happy weekend + home palette

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! My Saturday is dedicated to making some much-needed and long awaited changes to our apartment. I've been so busy lately that most days I come home and fall right into bed and am out the door as soon as I'm ready the next morning. So, to celebrate my efforts to create more free time I've decided to spice up our apartment so coming home & relaxing feels wonderful. My deadline is quick... I planned a cocktail party at our house a week from Saturday so I'm forcing myself to plow through this and get things done fast! (we'll see if that pans out, ha)

My budget is small but my splurges were a vintage Persian rug and a new outdoor dining set for our patio. The rest of the changes will be more low-key (new paint, reworking pieces I already own, and creating some quick original art for the walls).

Above is my inspiration palette for the place. I'm taking a risky step and painting our bedroom black a la Jenna Lyons' room, above, but I'm excited to see how it turns out..

1. Jenna Lyons' bedroom 2. persian rug 3. lighting from Jayson Home & Garden.. i wish i had the budget for those 4. Wayne Pate print 5. Room & Board chair 6. Anthro side table 7. IKEA throw (only $12.99) 8. The Small Stakes poster print

happy valentine's day

happy weekend

happy weekend!

nathan and I are having our Valentine's date on Saturday and I'm so excited. One of the first things we're doing is going on the Winter Park boat tour. When I moved here I was astounded by the amount of lakes there are but sadly most are un-swimmable due to algae.. and possibly alligators. However, there are 3 lakes in Winter Park that are connected by these beautiful canals and you can take an amazingly charming/cheesy boat tour where a cute old man will point out random facts on a pa system. I can't wait :)

joshua longbrake

my good friend Joshua has been taking some amazing wedding photos.. I especially love these film shots. I'm a big fan of vintage, black & white photography.. especially for weddings.

rifle paper co. 2011 sneak peek!

I thought I'd share a little sneak peek of some of our new 2011 designs! I'm working hard to create lots of new products that will be debuting at the National Stationery Show in May and can't wait to share more. I'm so excited about the new goods and have definitely been inspired by bold florals and loads of color.

One of my favorite new products is the notebook set that I did in collaboration with Chronicle Books. The set comes with all 3 colors and they're spiced up with foiled text on the covers and metallic ink on the interiors. Pre-orders should be available soon but I believe they'll hit stores around the Fall...

There's also a new thank you card and assorted insect set that will be available in stores this Spring (ahead of the show). The ladybug card is part of an exclusive insect character collection for Anthropologie shops.

hope you everything like so far!

p.s... check out a little interview that I did over on Lottie Loves today.. if you'd like

van gogh portraits

when I was in new york for a couple days this week I got a chance to visit the MoMa for a little bit and saw one of my favorite paintings, the Portrait of Joseph Roulin with that quirky wallpaper background (above right). I'm a big fan of Van Gogh, especially his portraits.. and I always love his color palette.
