book-themed invitations for Martha Stewart Living

my mom just texted me (love it) that the May issue of Martha Stewart Living is out which features our illustrated book-themed baby shower invitations. I was so excited to work on this suite. The theme is SO adorable and I love how the whole feature came out.. so whimsical and charming and I love everything about vintage children's books.

You can also download the clip art for the invite, bookmark, and bookplate on the Martha Stewart website for free right here!

p.s. I am back home in Florida after a wonderful trip to Paris. Yes, I am going through pastry withdrawal but I'm also happy to be back home with Nathan and back to work refreshed with loads of new inspiration. I hope to recap the trip with lots of pictures later this week!

max & margaux

you may have seen their gorgeous wedding photos all around the internet lately but I just wanted to share a few photos of max & margaux and their lovely wedding. It's one of my favorite's that I've seen.. it just looked so festive, laid back and full of love. I also had the pleasure of working with the couple on their custom invitation set (above)..

invitation: avi & kate

I just realized I have not posted very much of my recent custom work so I thought I would share a few over the next few days...

Below is Kate & Avi's set. The couple lives in & got married in Brooklyn last September. For their invitation we decided to play up their love for handmade with a hand sewn invitation design. I used embroidery thread and sewed it directly into paper to create the design and then added hand painted lettering before scanning the art for printing.

(after noting some comments- I sewed one piece of paper and then scanned the design- not embroidered each individual invitation. I think that would be amazing but also a little crazy pants)

new (sort of) work: alison & chris

Chris & Alison got married at a national park in Ohio and their invitation set was inspired by their location as well as their love of gig & vintage WPA posters. The main invitation was a fold out poster and we also created a vintage park guide inspired booklet that included a note from the couple, wedding information, a map, and a tear away RSVP postcard on the last page. The booklet was printed and then bound with stitched red thread.

I also created the couple's save the date which you can see here.

Christmas came early.

I'm so excited to share the invitation that I created for the Fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. It was finished months ago and as Nathan can attest, I started thinking it was too good to be true and that it was never really going to come out. I'm not sure I believed it until I saw it sitting in the mailbox on Saturday. I worked with MS to come up with the hand drawn lettering and then had Mama's Sauce screen print the set in both yellow and orange (I'll try to post pictures of the orange version another time).

carrie & adam's invitation set

The following is an invitation set that I recently created for Carrie and Adam, a lovely Brooklyn-based couple who are getting married in Michigan this Fall. The set was inspired by their rustic wedding location, colors (hues of aqua, red, orange, and yellow), and various folk art...

ashley & grant's wedding photos

It's so lovely to see the wedding photos of the couple's I've worked with. I've heard all about their decor and style, and tastes so it's nice to see everything come together. I also don't meet most people I work with so it's nice to see some faces! Ashley was one of the sweetest brides to work with. Her family is from Orlando so I actually met with her mom at the beginning of the process and we had a lovely time chatting over tea! Their wedding looks absolutely stunning...

The beautiful photos of their wedding at a farm in North Carolina were taken by the talented Tec Petaja. I also included a photo of their invitation suite that I designed.

Check out Once Wed for a full post of their wedding pictures.

Lisa & Derren

one more post.. I've been meaning to show these pictures for a while even though many of you may have seen them already on Style Me Pretty. I created a wedding certificate poster for the beautiful Lisa & Derren who got married on the coast of California a few weeks ago. The poster was screen printed with 3 colors on French Paper and the couple drew in the lines for each guest to sign as their guest book. Their whole wedding was so cute and I'm so glad to have been a part of it! Check out more pictures here.

have a lovely weekend

a little preview of a batch of custom save the dates that I finished this week...

This weekend I'll be catching up on lots of work. It's been raining for almost a week here, which is pretty unusual for Florida (it usually just rains for a little while in the afternoon and then clears up) but I love it for having to stay in and get things done.. and for saving the plants on my patio that I've been neglecting.

carmella & gr├ęgoire

the original piece:

Pictures of Carmella & Grégoire's cut paper illustrated invitation set. See another picture and a little description of their wedding here.

carly & daniel

I loved working on this invitation for Carly & Daniel. The inspiration for the invitation allowed for such a unique illustration & type treatment.. it came from both their wedding location (the roof of the Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC) and Carly's collection & love of vintage astronomy maps. I love that it's a bit darker than some of the invitations that I've done lately and it has this sort of classy 'new york' feel.

I also included the comp sketch and a photo of the final illustration being painted.. to see a bit of my process and because the final version ended up being almost exactly what I had sketched out.

another invite completed...

This weekend I finished up Carmella and Grégoire's wedding invitation. This is a quick photo before I packaged everything up.. I will get around to taking something a little more presentable this week.

I really loved working on this invite and their wedding is going to be so amazing. They're getting married in France with a French meets Mexican styled event (both of their cultures coming together). The illustration on the front was created with cut paper.. something I decided to do to complement the papel picado (Mexican paper flags) and other details of the wedding.

I'll post some more pictures after I take them.
