happy mother's day

Happy Mother's Day to all the special moms out there. Above is my own mama (blonde hair & rockin plaid pants) in 1969.

the serious side of rifle

photos by The DuckDuck Collective

Matt from The DuckDuck Collective visited our studio the other day to take some photos of us and I'm very happy with the results. We look pretty serious in these pictures but I can't help but pick these two as my favorites.. both of these photos were taken with medium format film too, which I love. The first picture is of Nathan & me in our soon-to-be retail area of our studio and the second is me intently painting a new art print.

If you haven't seen DuckDuck's stuff you should check them out. I went to school with all 3 of them and I credit one (you, John Carl) for teaching me more about design than most of my teachers (no disrespect Prof. Smith). They're an incredibly talented group of photographers, videographers and designers.

it's hot

as Lady GaGa says, it's hot like Mexico. Florida summer has arrived.

Paris, 1962

I love these photos taken by Tom Palumbo in Paris, 1962. They remind me of the spirit of the holidays.. friends, laughter, and food. :) I hope to get plenty of all three this season.

happy halloween & weekend

Last year I went all out and hosted a Halloween party but this year I'm not sure that I'll be doing anything besides working. Anyone have any big plans or awesome costume ideas?

These images are from one of my favorite Martha Stewart Living spreads (in the Oct. 09 issue). So adorable and fun..  Owl mask "how-to" here. Cat mask here.

puppy fever

As Nathan can attest, I have been craving a dog in the worst kind of way.

I had so much fun working with Joanna (from Cup of Jo) and Alex on their wedding programs for their British nautical themed wedding!

Check out their beautiful wedding photos that Joanna is posting on her blog this week, if you haven't already. (shot by the talented Max Wanger).

peach & calligraphy & beautiful photos...

images by Rinne AllenThis is a late post today (I was busy the entire day getting a new DIY project ready for tomorrow) but I wanted to share these photos by Rinne Allen from the shoot Emily (Once Wed) and Joy Thigpen put together for the Design*Sponge guest blog. I was lucky enough to be asked to do the calligraphy for the place cards and am so excited to be part of their beautiful shoot.

Check out the rest gorgeous photos from the post titled 'Peach is the New Pink' here.

And... check out the D*S guest blog tomorrow for my latest DIY project!

back home! photos from the trip pt. 1

Nathan and I arrived back in Florida to the heat and a pile of work but after being gone for two weeks we were ready to come back. It was a wonderful and relaxing trip filled with lots of hikes, fresh air, good food, a trip to Canada, and time with family. Here are a few photos from the trip... I'll post more tomorrow along with a new invitation set.
