jennifer & alex custom wedding suite

I know last year was crazy because I realized that I hadn't shared, or even taken photos of, some of my favorite custom wedding sets that I now designed over a year and a half ago. I started Rifle Paper Co. by designing custom wedding invitations and it's something I absolutely love but while our little company has grown I haven't had as much time to do full custom sets. This set is one of my favorites though so I thought I would finally share it!

The couple got married at the Bowery Hotel in NY. The bride is from NY and her fiancé is from London so the illustration on the front of the invite reflected both locations in the background. The inspiration for the set was the vintage style interior of the Bowery Hotel (one of my favorite hotels) and we also took inspiration from the beautiful Saipua floral arrangements that would be at the wedding (view photos of the couple's actual florals here). The color palette used pastel pinks & greens for the Spring wedding but grounded in blacks & muted tones to add sophistication to the set.

We worked together on the day of pieces as well (escort cards, menu, table numbers, etc.) which was really fun. One of my favorite pieces we did for that was the little wedding program with three pages tied together with Angela Ligouri's Italian cotton ribbon, which I'm obsessed with.

you may have seen their gorgeous wedding photos all around the internet lately but I just wanted to share a few photos of max & margaux and their lovely wedding. It's one of my favorite's that I've seen.. it just looked so festive, laid back and full of love. I also had the pleasure of working with the couple on their custom invitation set (above)..

katharine & brandon's wedding program fans

I loved working with Katharine on her wedding program fans last summer. Her outdoor garden party wedding was the perfect inspiration for the design and I felt like I got what she was going for right away. I especially like how we incorporated the wedding party onto the back.. there were a lot of names to fit but it think it ended up looking pretty & organized.

I just realized I have not posted very much of my recent custom work so I thought I would share a few over the next few days...

Below is Kate & Avi's set. The couple lives in & got married in Brooklyn last September. For their invitation we decided to play up their love for handmade with a hand sewn invitation design. I used embroidery thread and sewed it directly into paper to create the design and then added hand painted lettering before scanning the art for printing.

(after noting some comments- I sewed one piece of paper and then scanned the design- not embroidered each individual invitation. I think that would be amazing but also a little crazy pants)

new york weddings (winter 2010)

Many thanks to New York Mag for including a Rifle save the date (the one with the tandem bike) in their Winter 2010 Weddings issue. I just saw the image for the first time on the Bird and Banner site today (and I feel quite honored to be on the same page next to those incredibly talented ladies).

Adam & Lhasa's Invitation Set:

I have to admit, this is one of my favorite sets and I have been holding out on posting it for a while. It's simple, delicate, and the lovely couple gave me such wonderful direction & inspiration to work with.

Bre & Eric's Wedding Certificate:

This certificate poster was created for my best friend's wedding and I am happy to announce that it will soon be available to order in my online store as a template! The poster was designed to match her save the dates and then we had Mama's Sauce (of course) screen print it with 3 ink colors on black colored French Paper.

Christmas came early.

I'm so excited to share the invitation that I created for the Fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. It was finished months ago and as Nathan can attest, I started thinking it was too good to be true and that it was never really going to come out. I'm not sure I believed it until I saw it sitting in the mailbox on Saturday. I worked with MS to come up with the hand drawn lettering and then had Mama's Sauce screen print the set in both yellow and orange (I'll try to post pictures of the orange version another time).
